The saying that everything happens for a reason couldn’t be further from the truth.

Had I known when I stood up to a bully, I would have gotten to claim the best person I know as my best friend I wouldn’t have changed a single thing.

Even more so when that put me in sight of her dad.

And being in those sights for well over half my life, it does something to a person.

It makes you realize that when he claimed your heart at just nine years old, you later found out that you wouldn’t be getting it back.

And you didn’t want it back.

You wanted him to keep it forever and keep it safe.
