A newly certified forensic artist does a few practice sketches of her scenic hometown…and accidentally captures a crime in progress.

Mila Kingston is furious with her stepbrother for missing her high school graduation. And her beauty school graduation. And her almost wedding, but that’s another story. Yeah, she gets that he co-owns one of the fastest-growing security firms in the west, but that’s no excuse for ignoring baby sis. On a mission to be taken more seriously by him, she upgrades her makeup artist certification to a forensic artist certification and applies for a job at his company.

Former special ops Rock Hefner is tasked with creating a forensics team at Lonestar Security. Despite Mila’s lack of experience, he’s so impressed by her sample portfolio that he arm-twists her stepbrother into hiring her. During her first few days on the job, she’s the victim of a seemingly random string of accidents, propelling him to take another look at her sample sketches. What he finds in one of them makes his blood run cold.
